Mystery behind our habits 2
Let us take a look at some of the bad habits that we involve in.
Sinful Heart Habits
1) Over-Ambition:- An ambition is something that you want to do or achieve very much. It can also be the desire or determination to be successful, rich or powerful. When you are over ambitious, you can do anything to achieve that thing you are aiming at, then evil imagination sets in, you will be left with no other option but to do evil. So to be over ambitious, is a sinful heart habit. Please don't fall into this trap.
Anger:- Anger is the strong feeling that you have when something has happened that you think is bad and unfair. Being angry is not good. When you are angry at one time or the other, your anger pushes you to do what you are not supposed to and it will lead you to a place where you are not supposed to be.
Patience is a virtue, let's imbibe it.
3) Arrogance:- Arrogance is the behavior of a person when they feel they are more important than other people, so that they are rude to them or do not consider them to be of any importance.
4) Criticism:- This is the act of expressing disapproval of somebody or something and opinions about their faults or bad qualities. Even the bible says, judge not for you not to be judged. Be careful.
5) Envy:- Envy is the feeling of wanting to be in the same situation as somebody else; the feeling of wanting something that somebody else has. Being envious of others can result to harming them to get what they have. Don't ever be envious of anyone either big or small. Always be contented with what you have and wait for your own in due time.
6) Jealousy:- This is a feeling of being jealous, an action or a remark that shows that a person is jealous. Being jealous is when you feel angry or unhappy because somebody you like or love is showing interest in somebody else. Jealousy can cause bitterness among people, so be guided. Where someone else is today, you might be the one there tomorrow or even better of.
7) Lust:- This is a very strong desire, especially when love is not involved. Very strong desire for something. Lust is a common phenomenon among the youths of today, they claim to love each other but are only after sex.
N.B- Girls be warned, no boy is interested in getting married to a second-hand product, they only want the best. They will sleep with you and then dump you. Please, don't fall prey to thrir woos.
8) Fear:- Fear is the bad feeling that you have when you are in danger or when a particular thing frightens you. Fear is false evidence appearing real. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power and of a sound mind. Fear is of the devil. Beware!
9) Greed:- This is a strong desire for more wealth, possessions and power etc. Greed has pushed alot of people to their early grave. Let's imbibe the spirit of contentment.
There are also some hidden habits that are often recognised as harmful.
E.g wasting time, gossipping, gambling, competing, arguing, procrastination, watching the tv at all times etc.
We also have depression, drunkeness, immoral8, pornography, smoking, stealing, just to mention a few.
There is always a solution to every problem.
How do we find our way out of this bad habits.
1) Sincere and genuine repentance. Repentance is not by force, it comes from the heart. Repent from these bad ways so you can be saved.
2) We must surrender ourselves totally to be ministry of deliverance.
3) We must realise that christ lives in us. We must give him our all.
4) We must strife for a change. We must continually read books to get more knowledge in order to improve more.
5) We must not give up. At first, it might look like we are not getting the desired change, keep striving. Remember Rome was not built in a day.
Every habit you form is one stone laid in your character. For it is better to lay the foundation right at the beginning, than to tear down the whole walls to put right what is found to be wrong. Our habits are indeed very powerful and highly consiquential to our destinies. They are those patterns of behaviour in our lives that started as a simple act, but being often repeated, have become a part of us. Our real strength and worth is not determined by how much wealth we have but by the kinds of habit we have. What you think about more often is what you become.
Habits you allow in your life will soon become your character. And your character is who you are.
First we form habits, then they form us. Conquer your habits or they eventually conquer you. If your good character must be complete, you must possess the fruits of the spirit listed below.
1) Love
2) Joy
3) Peace
4)Long suffering
5) Kindness
6) Goodness
7)Faith
8) Gentleness
9) Self control.
In conclusion, the gift of the spirit does not give a person a place in heaven, rather it is the fruit of the spirit that establishes one in the kingdom of light. If there is no spiritual fruit in our life, then we cannot reproduce. Rather than bring a blessing, our lives become a hindrance to the gospel.
